Demonstration of dangerous knowledge

Gregory Green’s mixed-media sculptures often take the form of bombs and weaponry, all functional except for the explosive material. They range from crude Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to missiles and even nuclear bombs, made using information available in libraries and other public sources. In traversing the terrain between the rough and the sophisticated, they mimic the violence of the insurgent and the state, exploring and blurring the boundaries between them. Since the mid-1980s, his work has interrogated issues of violence and power, and the availability of knowledge and technology as vehicles for social and political change, expanding the parameters between art and activism, culture and social commentary.
