LEAD, Pb
Cornelia Parker
Lead is heavy and soft, and has been used to make everything from batteries to bullets. While its density makes it a useful shield from radiation, it is also highly poisonous and can cause serious damage to the nervous system. Throughout even ancient history, lead has been associated with human fate. The Romans used lead to make dice. The later use of lead to make bullets fits well with this mythology. Bullet Drawing 2011 is constructed from lead bullets that were stretched out to make a thin wire, transforming the bullets and demonstrating the physical potential of lead. It also ignites further associations with human fate.
