Launch of Happy Nation?, the new book by Malcolm MacLachlan and Karen Hand

On the 24th of May 2012, an ambitious experiment was launched as part of HAPPY?, our 2012 Lab in the Gallery. The National Happiness Experiment would last for six weeks, enlist 3,309 participants, and would test - via text message - the mood of the nation. In running the experiment, the Trinity College Dublin School of Psychology, in partnership with Vodafone and Science Gallery, gained valuable insight into Irish psychology.

Now, the results are in.

Happy Nation?, the new book by researchers Malcolm MacLachlan and Karen Hand, analyses the data collected during the National Happiness Experiment and asks how we can use this information to understand and improve our lives and society. Happy Nation will be officially launched by the team behind the study this Thursday at Science Gallery. Come along to find out just how happy Irish people are.
