From Silent to Sound: Producing a Soundscape for The Dutch Golden Age

Friday, July 28, 2017 - 10:00 to 16:00
Science Gallery

Art practices grow, change and develop.  Every century brings enhanced techniques, modern methods and new technologies.  In this day-long workshop, Science Gallery Dublin's SOUND CHECK exhibition sets out to investigate how 21st- century sounds may be made in response to a 17th- century artwork.  The workshop will begin at Science Gallery Dublin and continue with a guided visit to Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting: Inspiration and Rivalry, specifically focusing on key works.  Participants will respond to the paintings by using experimental recording techniques and instruments found in SOUND CHECK.  They will work both independently and in collaboration to explore sound recording and production techniques.

The event is created for TY and Senior Level students only.
