Can Blockchain Make Music Great Again?

Friday, September 22, 2017 - 17:00 to 19:00
€8, €10

We are delighted to host a very special talk from Grammy-winning recording artist Imogen Heap who was involved in the development of the mi.mu gloves that feature in SOUND CHECK. Imogen will share some of the reasons why the music industry is looking to new technologies, such as Blockchain to enable a flourishing and fair, future music ecosystem.

Can we rebuild the music industry using Blockchain? If so what is it and what difference will it make to the artists who create the work but are often the last to get paid? Blockchain is best known as the technology underlying bitcoin, but its uses are increasingly under consideration by the music industry. The technology creates a decentralised, trusted ledger which its proponents in the music industry say could create transparency and immediate royalty payments directly from fans to music creators.

Following the talk, join us for a panel discussion where we will get the inside story on what the blockchain is, and hear about opportunities and future applications from the leading experts from the technology industry as well as the music industry.
