IN CASE OF EMERGENCY : COMMISSIONED ARTIST TALKS
Commissioning works of art for a public consumption requires careful consideration and collaboration – even more so when the subject relates to the complex world of climate change, catastrophe and the future of humanity.
With the support of Science Foundation Ireland’s Discover Programme, Science Gallery Dublin has commissioned four artworks for IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. The artworks have been created in collaboration with four Irish research institutes: AMBER, ICRAG, CÚRAM, and CONNECT.
Join us for a lunchtime chat about these commissions with some of the artists and go behind the scenes of our new exhibition IN CASE OF EMERGENCY with the artists of the show and find out how we brought the commissions to life in Science Gallery Dublin. During this one hour series of short talks, our panel, including artists Byron Rich and Fiona McDonald, will discuss the inspiration behind their work and how they collaborated with these leading Irish research institutes.
- Byron Rich - In collaboration with CÚRAM, the Centre for Research in Medical Devices at NUI Galway.
- Fiona McDonald - In conjunction with researchers at CONNECT, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Future Networks and Communications.
- Jenny Lee - In collaboration with iCRAG, the Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences.
- Siobhan McGibbon - In collaboration with research institution CÚRAM, the Centre for Research in Medical Devices at NUI Galway.
