Science Espressos are a series of talks running alongside the SPARKS exhibition at Science Gallery Dublin throughout January and February, offering visitors the chance to get up close and personal with experts representing different areas of health research.
The second talk in the series takes place at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 23rd January and features Joseph Roche, an Astrophysicist and Assistant Professor in Science Education at Trinity College Dublin. In this talk, titled 'The challenge of engaging society with citizen science,' Joseph will introduce the concept of citizen science as a complementary approach to scientific research. He will address some of the challenges of ensuring democratic citizen science and the dangers posed by irresponsible citizen science. He will also highlight some of the ongoing citizen science initiatives in Ireland and how people can participate in them.
