Ray Butler, astronomy lecturer at NUI Galway, joins us for a visit to Dunsink Observatory and a guided tour of the skies over Ireland — from comets and visible planets to galaxy sightings and star clusters, we will explore the night sky and what there is to be seen in the coming months. We will also explore the history of the observatory and you’ll get the chance to see and hear the history of their telescope dome.
Ray is a lecturer of physics and astronomy at the National University of Ireland, Galway. His research focuses on imaging of pulsars, supernova remnants and dwarf stars. He has also contributed to Hubble Space Telescope studies with his algorithm for star cluster analysis.
