WiRI is delighted to launch our first Science Week event! On November 16th, we are hosting a discussion on heroes in science. Three members from the "Women on Walls" campaign will join us, and each will give a short talk about Science Role Models. Their talks will entail a description of their own personal role models, their science heroes and their participation as role model in today’s society. Joining us will be:
Caitriona Lally - Professor in Bioengineering at Trinity College Dublin.
Sarah Mc Cormack - Associate Professor in the Dept of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at Trinity College Dublin.
Aoife Gowen - Associate Professor in the UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering at UCD.
The three talks will be followed by an informal panel discussion, hosted by Dr. Susan Fetics - so bring lots of questions and queries! We hope this event will motivate and inspire researchers at all career stages to overcome common barriers we face daily. Also this event will highlight the great work accomplished in the past that continue to inspire today’s female role models
The seminar will begin at 1pm in the Science Gallery Studios, tea/coffee will be provided. Tickets for this seminar are free and available now at Eventbrite.
If you have any alternative accessibility requirements (ISL interpretation, etc.), please notify us in advance at firstname.lastname@example.org. This seminar is an inclusive, QUILTBAG friendly space.
We look forward to seeing you there!
This is a community event supported by Science Gallery Dublin. If you have an idea for a small community event you would like to host, email email@example.com for more information.
