ARTificial Intelligence Lab Summer School

ARTificial Intelligence Lab - a summer programme for 15 - 18 year olds featuring art, design and robots!

A collaboration between the Trinity College Dublin Robotics & Innovation Lab, and Science Gallery Dublin, this week-long summer programme is a chance to explore science, engineering, art and design and to work through the creative process of devising technology-based solutions to real-life problems.

What will it involve:
-Introduction to simple programming - learn how to programme a micro-controller board to control physical objects using sensors with research engineer Cian Donovan

- Putting the ART into artificial intelligence - create new design features for an existing robot with research engineer Cian Donovan

- Machine learning - what are the kinds of things that robots do best, and where are their limitations? Lecture from Niamh Donnelly, AI and Machine Learning Specialist.

- Ethics and responsibility in the age of artificial intelligence with Una Quinn, researcher at the ADAPT Centre for Digital Content

- Robotics research - how do young people have their say? Workshop with Iseult O'Donnell, Product Design Engineer

 - Group Challenge - solve a social issue using robotics or artificial intelligence

This is a course for the curious but the uninitiated, those who have no coding or programming experience, those who are interested in the intersection of art and science, those who are ready to work with others to think creatively and to challenge assumptions.

Registration is free. 20 places available. Course runs from 10am - 4pm daily. Lunch is not provided.

As part of this programme, on the evening of Friday 5th July Science Gallery Dublin is hosting one of their famous late events, but this time specifically aimed for 15-18 year olds. It will be themed around artificial intelligence, with live music performances, food, experiments, workshops, talks, games, and much more.  Find out more here

This programme is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme for the European Union through the European ARTificial Intelligence Lab project.
