Repair, Take Care, Re-wear

How can we take the lifespan of our clothing into our own hands, to reduce the amount of money spent and furthermore reduce our own textile waste and carbon footprint?

Join us for an educational and practical workshop consisting of a presentation, demonstration and hands-on application on how to reduce your textile waste.

Caoimhe Ní Bhroin will present to us the damage caused by polyester clothing and ways of adopting simple mending techniques to repair and re-love clothes such as sewing a button, stitching a tear, embellishing denim with simple embroidery stitches. Guests are then free to join in and mend and embellish their own clothing.

What to bring : any clothes that need repairing, decorating or re-vamping ie. shirts, pants, tote-bags, old t-shirts can be made into tote-bags too!

Caoimhe Ní Bhroin is a recent graduate of Textiles Art & Artefact from the National College of Art and Design who freelances as a sewing facilitator in Dublin. She is passionate about up-cycling and re-working old materials to make new pieces while also promoting a more conscious outlook on what we wear, buy & throw away. @caoiva_designs
