ANALEMMA TOWER

Analemma Tower is a proposal for the world's tallest building. It taps into the desire for extreme height, seclusion and constant mobility. If the recent boom in residential towers proves that a sales price per square foot rises with floor elevation, then the Analemma Tower will command the highest prices ever.

In 2015, the European Space Agency sparked a new round of investment in asteroid mining concerns by proving, with its Rosetta mission, that it is possible to rendezvous and land on a spinning comet. NASA is planning an asteroid retrieval mission for 2021 that aims to prove the feasibility of capturing and relocating an asteroid. This process can be monetized for enormous private sector profits by placing a large asteroid into orbit over Earth, with a high-strength cable lowered towards the surface of the Earth to suspend a super tall tower from the asteroid.

This pendulum tower can be placed in an eccentric, geosynchronous orbit, which would allow it to travel between the northern and southern hemispheres daily. The ground trace for Analemma Tower would be a figure eight, and the tower would move at its slowest speed at the top and bottom of the figure, allowing inhabitants to interface with the planet's surface at these points. The orbit would be calibrated to place the slow part of the tower’s trajectory over New York City.
