Do-it-yourself, affordable long range camera that activates through the detection of motion

This device is a do-it-yourself camera for taking video and images from a long distance. The components can be bought for less than €100 and assembled in approximately 2 hours. The camera is modular so it can be expanded with different lenses and different environmental sensors like gas detectors, thermometers, barometers, and GPS. Data that is collected can be translated into images and the software compatible with the camera was developed by the Public Lab community. The camera was initially designed to monitor an illegal landfill in the south of Spain by taking video and pictures of trucks entering and exiting the compound.
