WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF TRANSPARENCY?

The bins of Insert Here, To Save Everything contain sensors that measure the weight and disposal time for each piece of waste discarded in them. The data collected is used to make your bin behaviour transparent, creating visualisations and generating tweets about your waste in real-time.

This project was inspired by the book, To Fix Everything, Click Here by Evgeny Morozov. It explores solutionism, gamification and the misdirections of technology. When it comes recycling, we’re encouraged to “think globally and act locally” - to engage with global environmental issues like climate change by taking action in your own home and community.
