MOULD INTO SHAPE: A STREET VIEW.

LUKE CASSERLY AND SHANNA MAY BREEN

IRELAND 2019

WHERE IS PLASTIC?

If you sit on your couch at home, it is there.
If you turn over a rock on a beach, it is there.
If you wait for the light to turn green, it is there.

We invite you, the listener, to look out the window and observe it being there. Framed by two voices, this site-specific soundscape delicately notices, with the observer, the presence of plastic on a street, in a city. (Version One of Mould Into Shape was presented as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival 2019 on the DART, check dublin.sciencegallery.com/events for repeat performances.)

ABOUT

Shanna May Breen is a performance artist who is invested in devising projects with groups of people in interesting places. Previous works have seen her track Ireland's obsession with alcohol while drinking a bottle of Jameson live on stage, climbing a glacier to develop a show about "journeying" and composing a travelling soundscape of her hometown on a 1920’s bus.

Luke Casserly is a theatre artist based in Dublin, originally from Longford. His work explores the perimeters of theatrical convention using seismic, urgent subject matters facing the world today. He works with devised material to carve out new performance ideas, which spark new conversations about the world around us.
