By Sarah Jane Pell & David G. Barnes (AU)
Explore the life of a Martian with a virtual visit to the Mars Desert Research Station. Observe co-operation, teamwork, coordination, community, competition and ritual spacewalks. Be a part of the sport and spectacle of an elite Martian crew. Watch good-old fashioned relay-racing in the round, long excursions in the mountains, and daily chores inside the Greenhab and Science Domes.
BIO
Sarah Jane Pell is an artist-astronaut candidate, commercial diver and researcher expanding human performance fields by connecting exploration with imagination. A pioneer of ‘aquabatics', Sarah Jane has logged over 500 hours underwater and has exhibited, published, and performed live on Earth and in space. Awarded Best PhD Art & Science MIT LABS 2007, she attempted to summit Everest in 2015, and survived the Nepal earthquakes, all for art. Sarah Jane is a TED Fellow, Gifted Citizen, and Australia Council Fellow working on Performing Astronautics: Exploring the bodies performance from the depths to the edge of space. Her work has travelled from Ars Electronica to the Moon and back. She is the LUNARES 3 Crew Lunar Analogue Simulation Mission Commander, July 2018, and looks forward to dreaming of oceans during future artist-residencies on the moon. She still finds it surprising the lengths we go to ‘out there’ to get appreciate the depths of what's going on ‘in here’. Life is art.
