RACING TOWARDS PERFECTION
COURTNEY & MCCORMICK
Ireland 2019
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME PERFECT? AT WHAT POINT WILL WE FIND THE PHYSICAL LIMITATION OF OUR ANATOMIES?
The 100m sprint is one of the most popular and traditional athletic events. Elegant and simple, it’s results have been recorded in some form or another since the 19th Century. The depiction of this sprint showcases how our bodies have evolved over time with the emergence of better nutrition, better healthcare, and better training regimes. Starting in 1892, this data explores the trends involved in the Men’s and Women’s 100m sprint. There’s no special equipment, no tools or props or complicated rules. The challenge is a simple one. Run forwards, as fast as you can.
